The Ministry of Education (MOE) ROC, Taiwan and the University of Sydney (USyd) jointly fund up to 5 PhD scholarships each year since 2020. These opportunities are available to Taiwanese citizens to study at USyd in Australia.
The Taiwan-University of Sydney Joint PhD Scholarship program provides tuition fees and stipends/living cost for recipients to undertake PhD studies at USyd for a period of three years and six months and a possible extension of maximum of six months. All fields of study are welcome except for professional doctorates.

MOE has an array of scholarships jointly funded by World Top 100 universities for Taiwanese students and researchers to study aboard. The guidelines for 2024 MOE World Top 100 University Scholarships is expected to be announced in early November, 2023. Besides Taiwan-University of Sydney Scholarship, the Taiwan- Australian National University Scholarship, the Taiwan- Cambridge Scholarship and the Taiwan- Caltech Graduate Scholarship, etc. were on the 2023 MOE World Top 100 University Scholarship list.

- Application to the University of Sydney: prospective applicants for the MOE-USYD Scholarship must first apply for admission to University of Sydney for their preferred PhD program. The application deadline is 30 November 2023 at 11.59pm(AEST). Applications can be made through:
