President Francis Yi-Chen Lan of Fu Jen Catholic University led a delegation to visit the University of Canberra on 27 May. Witnessed by Deputy Representative Regine Chen of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia, the two institutions formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Student Exchange Agreement, establishing a sister-university partnership and creating new opportunities for collaboration in teaching, research, and talent development.
The agreements were signed by President Francis Yi-Chen Lan of Fu Jen Catholic University and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Michelle Lincoln of the University of Canberra. The partnership originated from a visit to Taiwan in June last year by the Hon. Bill Shorten, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra, at the invitation of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. During that visit, he toured Fu Jen Catholic University, where both institutions gained a deeper understanding of each other’s educational strengths and internationalisation strategies. These exchanges laid the groundwork for subsequent discussions and cooperation. The return visit by the Fu Jen delegation and the successful signing of the agreements mark a new milestone in the relationship between the two universities.
