The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia held the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) on 23 of September, 2018. 110 examinees took part this year, an increase over 79 examinees last year.
Assisted by Chung Tian Chinese School of QLD, the 3 venues listed below held the test at the same time: Chung Tian Chinese School of QLD, St Lucia campus at University of Queensland and Saint Stephen's College in Gold Coast. The tests were supervised by executive director Dr Aaron Chen and policy officer Ms Jiachi Chen of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia.
Aaron commented that the number of people in Australia taking a TOCFL test has seen sustained growth, and hoped that with more outreaching to Chinese language teachers more trails in other states can be tested in the near future.
TOCFL is Taiwan’s Chinese language proficiency test for Chinese learners. TOCFL have continued to offer their services for Chinese learners in Australia and for up to 30 countries and regions worldwide.
TOCFL is widely recognized across corporate and government sectors as a credential for proficiency measurement. It is vital for students applying for scholarships or degree programs in Taiwan, and it might prove useful for securing employment opportunities in Taiwan.
