In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the friendship-city relationship between Taipei and Perth, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM) and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) will separately launch exhibitions to highlight the cultural exchanges between the two cities.
On October 18, PICA will take the lead with Firsthand: New Art from Taipei and Perth (provisional title), with Perth artists sharing their work and talk about their experience of exhibiting in Taipei. Meanwhile, seven Taipei artists—including Chia-En Jao, Chou Yu-cheng, Lo Yi-Chun, and Don Don Hounwu—will visit Perth to showcase large projections, sculptures, installation art, and performing art. The Taipei artists will hold talks with Perth artists to enable the people of Perth to learn more about Taipei.
TFAM will also be holding an exhibition from mid-November to March next year, inviting Perth artists to Taipei to exchange views with local artists.
In addition, over the past decade Taipei Artist Village has been collaborating on the artist’s residency exchange program at Fremantle Art Center in Fremantle City. This year, the Taipei Artist Village will also be mounting a 10-year retrospective.
