In a recent interview with the Australian Financial Review, Taiwan’s representative Douglas Hsu highlighted Taiwan’s commitment to supporting Australia’s fuel supply
He also emphasized that Australia’s LNG exports to Taiwan continue to underpin a strong and evolving partnership.
—
He noted that what used to be a one-directional energy relationship is now becoming a mutual support system.
He further noted that Taiwan is Australia’s fourth-largest source of diesel—accounting for around 12% of imports—and also a significant supplier of jet fuel

—
He emphasized that in today’s Indo-Pacific,
energy security is closely tied to national resilience.
—
He also noted that Taiwanese companies are investing in Australia’s digital infrastructure, including data centres.
He further explained that as European markets impose stricter green and renewable energy requirements—such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism—industries are increasingly locating closer to renewable energy sources, making Australia an attractive destination
