The Taiwanese community in Darwin, Northern Territory, held a grand National Day Banquet on October 18 to celebrate the 114th Anniversary of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Director-General William Fan, Director Eva Wei of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brisbane, and Director Jone Hsu of the Queensland Taiwan Centre attended the celebration alongside Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Hon Lia Finocchiaro, Darwin Lord Mayor, Hon Peter Styles, and over a hundred community members and distinguished guests.
The event was hosted by Overseas Community Affairs Council Advisor Kivi Lay and Promotion Commissioner Rui-Chu Lay, who expressed gratitude to all attending friends and officials, as well as to TECO Brisbane and the Queensland Taiwan Centre for their ongoing support of the Northern Territory’s Taiwanese community.
In his remarks, Director-General Fan commended the organisers for their efforts in uniting the local community and thanked the attendees for their enduring support of Taiwan. He highlighted that under President Lai Ching-te’s leadership, Taiwan continues to advance its diplomacy based on democracy, peace, and prosperity, and looks forward to working closely with Australian friends to strengthen Taiwan’s participation in the international community.
The evening was filled with joy, delicious food, and warm fellowship, concluding with guests joining together to sing “Happy Birthday” and celebrate Taiwan’s 114th National Day.
