Our sincere appreciation to the European Parliament for adopting the report on "the EU and the defence of multilateralism" with 454:73:112, which reiterated its support for Taiwan's meaningful participation as an observer in the World Health Organization, International Civil Aviation Organization, Interpol and UNFCCC.
The report also expresses strong support for the United Nations’ programme of reforms and calls for the establishment of an annual summit between the EU and the UN. The Members of the European Parliament, through this report, condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine and stress that the EU and its like-minded democratic partners should coordinate in the international fora to uphold the rules-based international system in the face of a more ambitious and aggressive China. Moreover, the report further warns against the dangers of authoritarian regimes, such as China, trying to attain and consolidate leverage by financing international organisations.
