The EIAS hosted the webinar: “Bridges over troubled water-Security situations in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea after the Hong Kong National Security Law” on Wednesday 28 October. Ambassador Tsai took part in the webinar as a speaker along with MEPs Ivan STEFANEC and Anna FOTYGA, and several scholars from Taiwan and Europe.
In his remarks, Amb. Tsai mentioned that China has, thus far, engaged in expansionism in the region without any gun smoke. He further warned that if global community keeps silent on this challenging situation, China will feel comfortable to apply this expansionist model to some other corners of the globe.
MEP Ivan STEFANEC and MEP Anna FOTYGA both suggested that the EU and the international community should increase their support for Taiwan and protect Taiwan’s vibrant democracy from China’s coercion.
