Helicopters Gifted to B.D.F. Has Been Test-flied Perfect and To Be handed over on April 26th
On April 5th 2016, a seventeen-member assembling team composed of engineers, technicians, mechanics and two pilots of the Army of the Republic of China (Taiwan) led by Colonel Ao, Cheng - lin arrived in Belize. The team was dispatched by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to assemble the two UH-1H helicopters gifted to B.D.F. by the Republic of China (Taiwan). Shortly after its arrival, the team embarked on the assembling works in B.D.F. headquarters.
By April 18th, 2016 the assembling works have been completed. H.E. Ambassador Benjamin Ho of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) visited B.D.F. on April 18th morning to take a test ride on second helicopter upon the completion of its assembling. Bridg. Gen. David Jones, Commander of B.D.F. took a test ride on first helicopters the week before. Both Ambassador Ho and Gen. Jones were satisfied with the progress of assembling and the condition of the helicopter and gave their highest comments to the assembling team of the Republic of China (Taiwan)’s Army.
Handing-over ceremony is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 at 10 A.M. at B.D.F. headquarters. Hon. John Saldivar, Minister of National Security, will represent the Government of Belize to receive the two helicopters from H.E. Ambassador Benjamin Ho.
