Taiwan has always been one of the most important medical and public health partners of Belize. Today, Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien attended a handing-over ceremony, jointly with Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health & Wellness of Belize, and Dr. Julio Sabido, C.E. O. of the Ministry, to deliver medical equipment and materials to the people and the Government of Belize.
The said medical equipment and materials with total value of US$ 50,000 were provided by 3 Taiwanese NGOs which are:
1) 70 wheelchairs for children, 52 toilet chairs, 76 walkers, 160 aluminum canes, 200 foldable canes, 60 canes for the visually impaired, 120 axillary crutches, 80 forearm crutches, and 40 polio crutches are provided by “Puh Sein Foundation” and “Cao Zhong Zhi foundation”.
2) 20,000 isolation gowns and 400 face shields are offered by the “SimplyHelp Foundation”, which was founded by a member of the Taiwanese community in the United States.
The Embassy will continue to work closely with the Ministry to improve the health care system of Belize and thus to promote the well-beings of Belizean people. Meanwhile, we would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of Belize, for supporting Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization (WHO) and its annual Assembly.
