It’s a great pleasure for Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu to attend the closing ceremony of “Tourism Women - Owned MSMEs Covid-19 Resilience Program.” today, jointly with Mrs. Nicole Solano, CEO of Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations, Mr. Abil Castaneda, Chief Tourism Officer, Ms. Deshawn Ellis, Foreign Service Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, and Mr. Robert Pan, Chief of the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.
This program was funded by the Taiwan ICDF, under the Belize-Taiwan Women Empowerment Project, and co-implemented by the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize and the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, to assist thirty small and medium tourism-related businesses owned by women to face challenges caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
The six-month program provided thirty participants with various kinds of support, including consulting services to evaluate their business performances and challenges, assist them to receive the Belize Tourism Board Gold Standard Recognition, and to improve their digital exposure. The participating MSMEs will also receive material support such as tablets and commercial receipt printers so as to enhance their business capacity and efficiency.
While congratulating all the participants, the Embassy would like to extend our appreciation to the Government of Belize for supporting the Belize-Taiwan Women Empowerment Program. Together, we can make more women empowered and stronger!
