To support the UN’s 70th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), Taiwan held the “Taiwan Gender Equality Week” in New York, showing its strong role in promoting fairness and equality.
Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim spoke at the “Taiwan Women’s Cultural Night,” noting that Taiwan ranked 6th worldwide and 1st in Asia in the 2025 OECD Social Institutions and Gender Index (SIGI). This result proves Taiwan’s clear commitment to gender equality and human rights.
The event welcomed leaders from partner countries and NGOs. Guests enjoyed performances by jazz musicians Su Yu-han and Wu Wen-ting, and an orchid-themed exhibition symbolizing resilience and strength. These cultural highlights showed Taiwan’s soft power in diplomacy.
The slogan “Her Rights, Our Pride” also appeared on New York taxis and subway billboards, letting the world see Taiwan’s graceful image as a defender of women’s rights and empowerment.
