General Information

  1. Consular District:
    The consular district of this office includes Greater Ottawa Region (including surrounding cities). We process applications for passports, visas and document authentication within the above-stated areas. Application from other parts of Canada should contact our offices in Vancouver (www.roc-taiwan.org/CA/YVR), Toronto (www.roc-taiwan.org/CA/YYZ), or Montreal (www.roc-taiwan.org/CA/YUL).

    The office is closed on statutory holidays.

  1. Payment:
    Payment is only accepted by Cash (Please prepare the full amount of fees, no change will be given for mailing and in person application.), Money OrderBank Draft or Certified cheque (payable to “Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada” or " Taipei Eco. & Cul. Office in Canada"). Personal cheque is not accepted.
  • NOTE: When you purchase a Bank draft or Bank Cheque, please make sure the cheque contains the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) code.

1 Application form for authentication
  • A completed application form for document authentication filled and signed by the applicant.
2 The valid original passport and one photocopy of applicant
  • The original passport will be returned to the applicant after the process.
  • If original passport cannot be provided, a verified true copy of passport must be obtained from a passport office or Service Canada (for Canadian passports), or the government authorities of the issuing country (e.g., embassy, commissioner for passports issued by countries other than Canada and Taiwan).
  • If you are outside Canada, a copy of your passport must be authenticated by the Embassy or Consulate of the issuing country AND subsequently by the TECO Office in that consular district.
    -Canadian passport holders in Taiwan: A true copy of your passport can be obtained through Canadian Trade Office in Taipei AND subsequently authenticated by the Bureau of Consular Affairs of Taiwan.
3 The original academic qualification document and one photocopy
  • The original academic qualification documents may include Letter of Admission, Certificate of Registration, Transcript and Diploma/Degree, etc.
  • To authenticate Transcript, please provide a “sealed transcript”, which means the transcript is stamped sealed on each page and is placed in an envelope with the University Registrar’s signature across the back flap. Please note that the “sealed transcript” must remain intact and should NOT be opened (preferably sent directly from the school).
4 Original transcripts*
  • *To authenticate proof of diploma, please provide an official “Sealed Transcript,” preferably sent directly from the school.
5 Authorization Letter to Verify Diploma
  • Filled and signed by the applicant.
6 Return Envelope
  • Within Canada
    -Prepaid return Xpresspost purchased from Canada Post
    -Greater Ottawa Region, Quebec: Please provide Regional return envelope; Newfoundland and Labrador: Please provide National return envelope.
  • Outside Canada
    -Please purchase the Air Waybill from carrier companies (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) at first and submit application documents with printed barcodes. Please contact carrier companies for information.

  • We are not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen mail. If you want to apply by mail, a pre-paid self-addressed return Xpresspost/Courier envelope must be included.

  • Legalization/visa application fees are non-refundable once accepted, regardless of approval, rejection, or withdrawal of the application.
  1. If you also need to have your Chinese translation authenticated, please provide a Chinese translation that matches the content of the original text in terms of meaning and format. The authentication fee is calculated additionally. (Authentication of Chinese translation can also be notarized by the notary office of a domestic court or a civil notary in Taiwan).
