Just a month after the completion of Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) negotiations between Taiwan and Canada, the two nations engaged in trade discussions in Ottawa on Dec. 6th.
Heading the Taiwanese delegation for the 19th round of talks was Deputy Economics Minister Chen Chern-chyi, who met with Weldon Epp, Canada’s assistant deputy minister of global affairs for Indo-Pacific. Representatives from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Digital Affairs were also in attendance.
The agenda included discussions on the resilience of supply chains, the green economy, the digital economy, and the review of investments. The report highlighted Taiwan’s commitment to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050 as a key focus of attention during the discussions.
