To raise awareness of local regulations and health issues among the overseas Taiwanese community, the Cape Town Taiwanese Emergency Relief Association held a legal and healthcare seminar on 17 May, attracting enthusiastic participation from community members.
The event featured two main topics: business law and oral health. A local lawyer shared practical information on common business disputes and labour regulations in South Africa, helping participants better understand potential legal risks in doing business locally. A dentist also gave a presentation on oral hygiene and dental care, offering useful tips on maintaining good oral health. A Q&A session allowed attendees to actively engage and seek professional advice.
Director General Lily Chen of the Taipei Liaison Office in Cape Town attended the event and thanked the association and speakers for organizing such a practical and meaningful seminar for the community. She also encouraged community members to continue supporting local Taiwanese events and stay connected, especially as the Taiwanese community in Cape Town becomes smaller over time. In addition, she extended Mother’s Day wishes to all mothers present and reminded everyone to take care of their health during the winter season and after the recent storms in the Western Cape.
The event also included awareness videos on social resilience, anti-corruption, and anti-fraud issues, helping participants strengthen their understanding of safety and public awareness topics.
