Coastal Lunar Lanterns at Jack Poole Plaza

Asian-Canadian Special Events Association, in partnership with Tourism Vancouver, presented Coastal Lunar Lanterns at Vancouver tourist attraction Jack Poole Plaza from January 30 to February 18.

Coastal Lunar Lanterns were illuminated nightly to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The eight gigantic and iconic lanterns were designed by artists from the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations along with Miru Hayung, an Indigenous artist from Taiwan’s Atayal people. Each lantern told a story inspired by the artist’s ancestral lands and traditions. Many visitors stopped by to take photos and learn more about the aboriginal cultures in Taiwan and Canada.
