The Taiwan Fellowship Program, launched in 2010 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan), encourages foreign experts and scholars in social science and humanities, focusing on Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
We welcome research topics related to Taiwan government's major policies, regional security, countering disinformation and misinformation, science and technology diplomacy and global supply chain resilience.
Eligibility
Recipients shall be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
Duration
The minimum duration of a fellowship is three months, and the maximum one year. Recipients can begin the fellowship in Taiwan as early as January 2025 and must complete the fellowship by December 2025.
Awards
Round trip air ticket.
Monthly stipends: NT$50,000 – 60,000 for the duration of research, from 3 months up to 1 year.
Group accident insurance (NT$ 1 million for an accidental death, and NT$50,000 for accident injury medical benefits.)

Canadian applicants from Ontario (For applicants from Ottawa and Great Ottawa Region, please apply to TECO in Ottawa), Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island are requested to first submit online applications on the Taiwan Fellowship’s website ( https://taiwanfellowship.ncl.edu.tw ) and then mail the following documents to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Toronto before July 1st, 2024.
