To celebrate Canada Day, Director-General Liang was delighted to attend the 87th Embro Highland Games in Oxford County, joining local residents in celebrating this long-standing Scottish heritage festival. Members of the Taiwanese community also took part in the event, demonstrating their support for Canada's multicultural society.
Embro holds a special place in the shared history of Taiwan and Canada. It was the hometown of Dr. George Leslie Mackay, whose lifelong dedication to Taiwan through medical care, education, and community service laid a lasting foundation for the friendship between our two peoples.
Visiting the community that shaped Dr. Mackay's spirit on Canada Day carries special significance, and we look forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan, Oxford County, and communities across Canada.
The Taiwanese community also hosted a booth introducing the life and legacy of Dr. George Leslie Mackay and sharing Taiwan’s culture with visitors, drawing strong interest and engagement. Through cultural exchange and people-to-people connections, we look forward to deepening the friendship between Taiwan and Canada for generations to come.
