The 2023 Toronto TAIWANfest took place from August 25th to 27th at the HARBOURFRONT Centre. The event started on Friday evening with a concert centered around the theme "Life of the Ocean."
Ms. Jin-Ling Chen,Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural OfficeTaiwan in Toronto,many leaders from the Taiwanese community, academia, business, Canadian Members of Parliament, city councillors,and consuls general from friendly nations participated.
Various dignitaries, Mayor Olivia Chow, MPPErin Hardeman、MPP Robin Martin、MPP Aris Babikian were invited to attend and all praised Taiwan as a diverse and vibrant country of freedom and democracy.
The concert, conducted by Canadian-Taiwanese Maestro Ken Hsieh , featured performances by the Canada-Taiwan Cultural Festival Orchestra, playing classics like the "Anping Reminiscence." The audience's enthusiastic applause echoed throughout the venue.
Aside from a series of exciting cultural and artistic events, this year's festival introduced diverse flavors from the island, including "TAIDOG Taiwanese Hot Dogs" and Taiwan's signature snack, stinky tofu, allowing people in the Greater Toronto Area to experience a taste of Taiwan.
