- People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong and Macau passport holders cannot apply for a visa and need to apply for an Entry Permit instead. For information about Entry Permits, please check: https://www.roc-taiwan.org/ch/cat/13.html
- Applicants who have resided in or visited Afghanistan, Malawi, Mozambique, Pakistan, Madagascar or the DR Congo for four weeks or longer in the past year, must follow the polio vaccination recommendation from the World Health Organization.
- Once all the necessary documents have arrived at our office, it takes us on average 3 to 5 working days to process a visa application. During busy times and in special cases it can take significantly longer. Depending on our availability, express service may sometimes be available upon previous consultation with our office. Please do not send us the express fee without consulting us beforehand.
- The list below contains all the generally required documents for visa application. However, our consular officer may request more documents if necessary. For example, depending on the case we may ask for a copy of a Swiss/Liechtenstein resident permit for reference.
- The ROC has the right to reject visa applications without giving explanations; the application fee is not refundable.

2. General Information about Single Entry Visitor Visa
A Single Entry Visa allows you to enter the country once for a short duration (any stay above 6 months requires a resident visa). The maximum duration of stay is written on the visa, as well as the last possible date of entry. Holders of at least 60-days visitor visa without a stamp of no-extension can apply for visa extension at any service center of the National Immigration Agency (NIA). Please contact your local NIA bureau for details on the application process.
- How to apply for a Single Entry Visitor Visa
Visa applicants need to hand in all of the following documents:
- On-line Application Form. Please fill out the form online, print it out and sign on the second page. The form is not valid without your handwritten signature.
- Original Passport (please make sure you have signed your passport and its remaining validity is more than six months upon entry. At least one free page is required)
- A passport-sized picture (4.5cm x 3.5cm color photos with a white color background. The facial image size should be in between 3.2 cm – 3.6 cm. The photo must have been taken within last six months.)
- A prepaid registered envelope addressed to you for returning your passport with the visa (CHF 5.80, Swiss Post).
- Fee (https://www.roc-taiwan.org/ch_en/post/621.html) paid to us in cash or by bank transfer. The normal fee for Single Entry Visitor Visa is CHF 48.- (US Citizens: 177.-).
- A flight booking confirmation
- a proof of insurance abroad (either through health insurance or travel insurance)
- Further documents depending on your purpose of stay:
8a) For Private Travels: 1.) a bank account statement
8b) For Chinese Study: 1.) a study admission letter from your language center, 2.) a bank account statement,
8c) For Student Exchange: 1.) a study admission letter from your school or university in Taiwan, 2.) your student ID or study confirmation from your university or school in Switzerland 3.) a bank account statement
8d) For Internship: 1.) an internship confirmation from the employer in Taiwan, 2.) an approval letter issued by the relevant Taiwanese Ministry (before you apply for your visa, please inform your Taiwanese employer to contact the relevant Ministry.)
8e) For Business Trips: 1.) An employment certificate in Switzerland, 2.) an invitation letter from the Taiwanese company
8f) For Attending a Conference/Exhibition: 1.) An Invitation Letter or a proof of exhibition and applicant's ID, 2.) a bank account statement
8g) For Employment: 1.) a work permit/approval letter from the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan (Before you apply for your visa, please inform your Taiwanese employer to contact the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan and apply for a work permit for you)
8h) For Specialized, Technical Work or Contract Performing: 1.) An employment certificate in Switzerland, 2.) an invitation letter from the Taiwanese company, 3.) a copy of the contract between the companies involved (only for contract performing), 4.) a work permit (Before you apply for your visa, please inform your Taiwanese partner to contact the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan and apply for a work permit for you. 8i) For Entertaining Performance: 1.) a work permit/approval letter from the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan (Before you apply for your visa, please inform your Taiwanese Organizers/Sponsors or employers to contact the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan and apply for a work permit for you)
8j) For Medical Treatment: 1.) a diagnosis and proposal of treatment from a Taiwanese Medical institution and their letter for visa application, 2.) a Bank statement or a payment plan consented by the Taiwanese Medical institution
8k) For Employment Seeking: 1.) a completed and signed 「ROC EMPLOYMENT-SEEKING VISA APPLICATION CHECKLIST」 (Found at https://www.boca.gov.tw/cp-158-4158-09d5a-2.html#download), 2.) a proof of average monthly salary or remuneration over the past six months (only for applicants with work experience), 3.) a certificate of your highest education level and a proof of employment, 4.) a bank account statement, 5.) a Proof of health and full hospitalization insurance for the entire duration of stay in the ROC (Taiwan), 6.) a copy of Swiss or Liechtenstein Criminal Record (Strafregisterauszug), 7.) a plan for seeking employment
