The Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan. Those who choose TPP(Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement), RCEP(Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership), situation in East China Sea or South China Sea as research topics will be most welcomed.
I. Eligibility:
1. Applicants should be Czech nationals who are professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, doctoral program students, or same-level research fellows from academic institutions, and whose field of study is social sciences or humanities with a topic related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, the Asia Pacific or Sinology.
2. Other applicants recommended by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Prague with a field of study on Taiwan’s foreign relations or cross-strait relations. However, those who are currently conducting research, teaching, or studying in Taiwan are not eligible.
II. The Fellowship includes the following:
1. Monthly stipends at two different levels:
A. Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000(approx. USD$1,935)
B. Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, doctoral program students, and other candidates recommended by TECO, Prague: NT$50,000(approx. USD$ 1,613).
2. One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route between Czech Republic and Taiwan.
3. Group accident insurance during the term of research in Taiwan.
4. The term of fellowship ranges from 3 to 12 months. The recipients will begin their research in Taiwan from the earliest January 1, 2016 to the latest December 31, 2016.
III. Applicants should first submit an on-line application form and then submit the following documents to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office , Prague for preliminary review:
1. Application form;
2. Resume (including a publication list);
3. Research proposal (three pages in principle using a standard research format);
4. Two letters of recommendation, or one letter of recommendation and one letter of consent from the chief administrator of their institute.
