The Trade Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan) celebrates the country's 103rd Anniversary National Day at Grand Pacific Hotel Oct. 8 evening.
The President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and First Lady Adi Koila Nailatikau, together with more than 200 guests from the government, parliament, private sectors, diplomatic corps and Suva-based Chinese community attend the function.
Ms. R. Jane Cheng, Representative of the Trade Mission, speaks after congratulating the people of Fiji for successful general election and moving forward to a united democracy.
“R.O.C. on Taiwan shares various similarities with Fiji. Both's economic development backbones based on sugarcane industry. Both are island countries with wonderful people. Now, after the general election, both strive for promising future based on shared value such as sovereignty and integrity, security and prosperity, ethnic harmony and regional peace, environmental sustainability and social justice,”Ms. R. Jane Cheng says.
“During the past year, the Trade Mission organized almost 20 workshops on various aspects of social, economic development; initiated a mental health project expecting to be launched in 2015, conducted various agricultural technology transfer projects,”she said.
“Trade Mission of R.O.C. Has been standing by Fiji over 42 years and it will keep on the goodwill based on shared values,”she added.
To join their efforts in the celebration, the Taiwan Technical Mission from Sigatoka displays a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits in a double tenth-shaped cabinet.
The Mission also showcases three colorful pieces of traditional garments on the scene for the guests to have a glimpse into the beauty of Chinese culture.
