Taitung Heads to the South Pacific — Connecting Austronesian Cultures with Fiji
分享到
The Cultural Affairs Department of Taitung County Government has journeyed to the beautiful island nation of Fiji in the South Pacific, embarking on a cultural exchange focused on Austronesian heritage! Although separated by thousands of miles, Taiwan and Fiji's Indigenous peoples share common roots in the Austronesian language family. They resonate deeply through traditional seafaring, performing arts, literature, and rituals.
This visit will bring together local cultural and arts institutions, the University of the South Pacific, tribal elders, and artists to promote in-depth dialogue and collaboration between Taiwan and Fiji on Austronesian culture — laying a strong foundation for an international platform dedicated to Austronesian heritage in the future.
On September 11, Representative Joseph Chow also met with the delegation to exchange ideas on Taiwan–Fiji Austronesian cultural exchanges and the Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC). Let’s continue using culture as a bridge, and let the world witness the rich Austronesian heritage of Taitung.
