October 9 was an unforgettable evening at the Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) in Suva! Representative Joseph Chow and Mrs. Chow of Taipei Trade Office in Fiji hosted a spectacular reception to mark two historic milestones: the 114th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the 55th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Fiji!
Former Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry and other dignitaries, including Members of Parliament and senior government officials, joined the celebration.
Celebrating fruitful partnerships!
- Agriculture: Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) showcased its long-standing collaboration, including the new Centre for Agricultural Technology Transfer (CATT) in Nausori.
- Healthcare: MacKay Memorial Hospital and Nadi Hospital's partnership is improving healthcare in Fiji. “SOVA NI BULA” digital platform from Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) also offers better medical services.
- Education: The MOFA Taiwan Scholarship program is empowering Fijian youth to become future leaders.
- Clean Energy: Taiwan is helping remote communities with solar energy projects, boosting climate resilience.
A creative touch!
Guests were greeted by a unique map of Taiwan made from fresh fruits and vegetables grown by TTM FIJI team! They also received a gift box filled with produce as a token of friendship.
The evening concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, a sweet symbol of the unity and shared hopes for a peaceful and prosperous future for both nations.
