In October 2025, the medical team from Mackay Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, once again journeyed to the South Pacific—this marks their sixth mission to Nadi Hospital in Fiji to carry out specialized medical services! Led by Dr. Wei-de Tsai, Director of the International Medical Center, the team included specialists in cardiology, otolaryngology (ENT), dentistry, traditional Chinese medicine, family medicine, and emergency medicine. A total of ten outstanding medical professionals brought both Taiwan’s medical expertise and compassion to this the Pacific island of Fiji.
This mission was a historic milestone! In addition to the regular cardiology and emergency medicine services, new specialties such as dentistry and ENT were added, marking a record number of participating specialists. This kind of cross-disciplinary collaboration allowed more island residents to experience Taiwan’s comprehensive medical care.
A Heartwarming Donation Ceremony
A special donation ceremony was held at Nadi Hospital for the physiological measurement device, expressing gratitude for Mackay Memorial Hospital’s long-term support. Both the current and former hospital directors of Nadi Hospital attended, celebrating this meaningful act of cross-national collaboration and care.
First Free Clinic and Diabetes Education Program
The medical team also visited Narawa SDA Church, providing free medical consultations and diabetes education sessions to local residents—helping more people learn how to take charge of their health!
A Breakthrough in Telemedicine
Mackay Memorial Hospital’s Telemedicine Center and Nadi Hospital successfully completed a teleconsultation test, confirming the stability of the video platform. Starting January 2026, remote cardiology consultations will officially begin—marking a new milestone in collaboration and demonstrating how Taiwan’s medical technology continues to safeguard health across Pacific island nations.
A Cake Full of Gratitude and Blessings
At the end of the mission, Nadi Hospital staff prepared a large cake inscribed with “Vinaka Team Taiwan” (“Thank you, Team Taiwan”)—a touching gesture of appreciation that filled the medical team with warmth and encouragement.
In just eight days, Mackay Memorial Hospital completed 1,011 medical consultations, 36 professional training sessions, and 50 health education activities. All these achievements were made possible by the selfless dedication and professionalism of every team member—spreading Taiwan’s love and compassion beyond borders, lighting up lives of Fiji in the South Pacific.
