In an effort to strengthen the relationship between Taiwan and Indonesia in the field of education, Indonesia Taiwan Education Center in Surabaya (TECSID) hosted a Taiwan Higher Education Fair held in Yogyakarta and Surabaya City. This exhibition marks a genuine implementation of Taiwan government’s "New Southbound Policy," which, among many things, concentrates on strengthening cooperation with countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia in various fields. And one of the potential fields to be strengthened is the education field.
26 leading universities from Taiwan will participate in the Taiwan Higher Education Fair which is scheduled to be held at Sportorium of University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta on December 14-15, 2017 and at Surabaya Supermall, Surabaya on December 16-17, 2017, respectively. This event marks a milestone of the bilateral collaboration between Taiwan universities and their counterparts in Indonesia. The event will be opened by President Jeffrey Tsai of Asia University, accompanied by Rector Nasih of UNAIR and Director General Jeffrey Shiao of TETO Surabaya, Deputy Representative of Phoebe Yeh, Jakarta and Rector Gunawan of UMY.
The main organizers of this activity are Asia University and China Medical University in cooperation with Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta and Airlangga University as co-organizers. The Taiwan Higher Education Fair is scheduled to be held twice every year, and for the year 2018, Asia University as the university in charge of this event plans to hold this event in Malang, East Java and East Kalimantan.
The event also received full support from Taiwan's Ministry of Education and Taiwan's Trade and Economic Office (TETO) in Jakarta and Surabaya. It is hoped that in this Taiwan Higher Education Fair visitors can obtain as much information as possible about various universities in Taiwan along with information of possible scholarship opportunities and gain thereby a good access to high quality education in Taiwan.
