At this year’s Tokyo Olympics, Taiwan achieved its best ever result in the history of its participation in the games. In order to share in the glory and unity of the people of Taiwan, as well also to emphasize the "self-evidence" of Taiwan, the Taipei Representative Office in Ireland obtained has obtained authorization to use the "#TeamTaiwan in 2021 card" in Kaohsiung, and has had this image of "Taiwan IN" designed and modified by a Taiwanese visual designer in Ireland, Yahui Minnock (蘇雅惠) painted on to the Georgian-style door of our office's building. The most important modification was to replace the badminton shuttlecock with a brass round knob on the door, representing the victory of the badminton men’s doubles championship final game. This image of “Taiwan IN” not only symbolizes where the final shot in the game fell, but also gives visitors an impression that they are entering a place that is deeply connected to Taiwan.
The Office has also displayed a photo exhibition of Taiwan’s 12 Olympic medalists, authorized by the Central News Agency in Taiwan in the Office’s consular hall from 10:30 today (August 13), sharing this glory and happiness with our Irish friends and the local Taiwanese community.
Visitors are welcome to take selfies with the door and to check in our office via Facebook. Those who take selfies and check in can send a private message to our Facebook account and leave their address if they would like to receive a pack of Taiwanese pineapple crisps (while supplies last!).
