Taiwanese students from several universities across Ireland have recently joined together to establish the Taiwan-Ireland Student Association (TISA). On the evening of 10 February 2026, the Association hosted a Lunar New Year celebration, bringing together Taiwanese students and local friends in Ireland for a warm and festive gathering.
Ambassador Daniel Diann-Wen Tang attended the event at the invitation of the organizers and interacted warmly with the students. In his remarks, Ambassador Tang noted that the establishment of TISA will help strengthen solidarity among Taiwanese students, foster mutual support, and promote meaningful exchanges. He emphasized that the formation of the Association is particularly meaningful during the Lunar New Year, expressing his hope that it will serve as an important platform for Taiwanese students in Ireland to support one another and cultivate a sense of belonging while studying abroad.
The Association organized a variety of activities during the celebration, including a calligraphy workshop and board games, enabling participants to get to know one another in a lively and joyful atmosphere while experiencing the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year. Ms. Evan Furlong, Principal of the Dublin School of Mandarin Chinese, also attended the event in support.
We look forward to the continued success of the TISA and to the creation of further opportunities for academic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Ireland.
