The Taiwan Scholarship awarding ceremony will be held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center on July 15, 2014. 20 Indian students will formally awarded the Taiwan Government’s Scholarship, a total amount of Rs. 1.4 crore for 20 students who will go to Taiwan for their degree pursuing and Mandarin learning. During the last 10 years, TECC has given away the scholarships to more than 200 Indian students in various fields.
This years’ scholarship is includes two categories, Taiwan Scholarship is for student to pursue degree programs while the Huayu enrichment scholarship is for studying Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan. The Taiwan Scholarship is mainly designed for M.A. and Ph.D programs for 2-4 years, while Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is for 6 months. The students are free to apply for admissions from the 60 universities in Taiwan and 37 Mandarin Centers. This year most applicants are interested in Asian Studies, Engineering, and International Business Management, etc.
Currently, there are over 50,000 foreign students in Taiwan, out of which 638 are from India. It is an official policy of the Taiwan government to encourage foreign student to study in Taiwan. India is one of the priority countries. The goal of the above mentioned programs is to provide excellent education opportunities for Indian students and in the meantime expose them to the rich culture best preserved in Taiwan.
