Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in Mumbai hosted the national day reception in the evening on October 6th at Sofitel Mumbai BKC to celebrate the 114th national day of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Over a hundred guests from various sectors in western India, as well as Taiwanese compatriots, attended the event and conducted extensive exchanges.
Director General Homer Chang delivered remarks highlighting the growing ties between Taiwan and India. Since the establishment of TECC in western India last year, bilateral exchanges have been intensified, with more Taiwanese businesses visiting India and more Indian visitors travelling to Taiwan. These developments reflect the results from Taiwan’s “New Southbound Policy” and India’s “Act East Policy”.
DG Chang also affirmed TECC’s commitment to promoting Taiwan’s “values-based and value-added based diplomacy”, and Taiwan’s vision to become a global economic powerhouse. Taiwan’s reputation as a “technology island” and “culture island”, can help fostering new opportunities for mutually beneficial and win-win cooperations between India and Taiwan.
Year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the mutual establishment of representative missions between India and Taiwan. TECC in Mumbai, holding its opening ceremony and R.O.C. (Taiwan) national day reception on October 16th, 2024, is Taiwan’s third mission in India, following TECCs in New Delhi and Chennai.
This year’s national day reception was held on the same day of Taiwan’s Mid-Autumn Festival which coincided with India’s auspicious season of Navaratri and Dasara, symbolizing the shared spirit of unity and determination to overcome challenges together between India and Taiwan.
