TECC in Mumbai spent the National Mango Day with the young generation of India on July 22nd. During the event, while tasting various varieties of Indian mangoes, participants also chatted about the rich history and culture about mangoes in the country.
Known as the “Mango Kingdom”, India holds deep historical, cultural and religious significance from mangoes. Most Indian mangoes are consumed right domestically, which shows just how much the Indian love this fruit.
Taiwan loves mangoes just as much! In addition to a wide variety of cultivars, Taiwan offers various processed products such as mango shaved ice and mango chips, which are comparable to India’s derivative dishes like mango jam and mango curry.
While tasting fresh Indian mangoes and Taiwanese mango chips, the conversation also linked to the film screening event of “A Chip Odyssey” previously hosted by TECC in Mumbai, demonstrating that in addition to technological and economic cooperation, culinary culture is also one of the commonalities between India and Taiwan.
