The New Indian Express newspaper releases an article on Taiwan’s agriculture practices as a solution to India’s farming problems.

The New Indian Express reports on Taoyuan Agricultural Expo 2018, held at Xinwu District in Taoyuan City, Taiwan for 40 days from April 4, 2018 with about 30 Hectares and divided into 23 pavilions with 6 major themes including “Smart Technology”, “Unique Industry”, “Cultural and Creative Arts”, “Local Life”, “Multiple Culture”, and “Sustainable Environment” incorporating the ideas of “Smart Technology and “Green Life”.
Taiwan as any other nation in the world faces the issue with farming sector. Today the average age of farmers in Taiwan is 62. Taiwan government has the solution to ensure the development of the farming sector and improves the life of the farmers. The major aim of this expo is to enhance farmer’s income and encourage youth to return or stay in rural areas, special programmes have been introduced, the Farmer’s Academy in Taiwan give hands-on training in farming skills to youth. Another major initiative is promoting agriculture through tourism.
The article in the New Indian Express suggests that if India can take an example from Taiwan’s agricultural practices and could effectively integrate farming with tourism, villagers would preserve and showcase their culture, all while making the newer economic prospects.
