On March 10, Ambassador Edward Ling-wen Tao met with the Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St. Kitts and Nevis to brief him on the latest progress of the Taiwan–St. Kitts and Nevis “Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project.” During the meeting, Ambassador Tao presented an eco-friendly reusable tote bag produced by a Taiwanese company using recycled PET plastic bottles collected in St. Kitts and Nevis, highlighting the tangible outcomes of bilateral cooperation.
Over the years, the Taiwan Technical Mission of the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) has worked closely with the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment of St. Kitts and Nevis to establish a comprehensive national waste management and recycling system. This collaboration has successfully fostered widespread public participation, engaging citizens of all ages—from schools to communities—in advancing environmental awareness, circular economy practices, and sustainable development.
Prime Minister Drew expressed his admiration for the design and significance of the recycled tote bag and conveyed his sincere appreciation for Taiwan’s longstanding support in strengthening the Federation’s environmental management capacity and advancing its vision of becoming a sustainable island nation.
