Visitor Visa
• Eligible Applicants:
Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other travel documents, intend to stay in the Republic of China for less than six (6) months for the purpose of transit, sightseeing, visiting relatives, paying a visit, attending a training course, receiving medical treatment, or engaging in business or other activities.
• Requirements:
o A passport valid for at least six (6) months
o One duly completed application form and two (2) recent photos
o An incoming and outgoing airline or verifying purchase of steamship ticket or itinerary
o Documents verifying the purpose of visit
o Other relevant documents
• Visa Validity:
o For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their Visitor Visas shall be decided in accordance with the said agreement
o For other foreign nationals, a Visitor Visa is valid generally from three (3) months up to one (1) year
• Duration of Stay:
o Fourteen (14) days
o Thirty (30) days
o Sixty (60) days

• Remarks:
Visitor Visa holders who are permitted to stay in the R.O.C. for sixty (60) or ninety (90) days and whose visa bears no such remark no extension will be granted, may apply at the nearest city/county police headquarters for a maximum of 180-days extensions.
Resident Visa
• Eligible applicants:
Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other travel documents, intend to stay in the Republic of China for more than six (6) months for the purpose of joining family, pursuing studies, accepting employment, making investment, doing missionary work, or engaging in other activities
• Requirements:
o A passport valid for at least six (6) months
o One duly completed application form and two (2) recent photos
o Supporting documents or official letters of approval from a competent authority of the R.O.C.
o Other relevant documents
• Visa Validity:
A Resident Visa is valid for three (3) months
• Duration of Stay:
Resident Visa holders are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate at the city/county police headquarters within 15 days after their arrival. They may stay in the R.O.C. as long as the Alien Resident Certificate remains valid.

If foreign nationals who have entered the R.O.C. with Visitor Visa are employed, they may change their Visitor Visas into Resident Visas, in this country directly. The above regulations do not apply to foreign laborers or those who enter the R.O.C. by visa exemption program.
