On 26 January 2018, an award-giving ceremony was sponsored by Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia at the White Hall of Riga Latvian Society in recognition of Latvian children who participated and earned awards in the “48th World School Children’s Art Exhibition”. More than 100 people were presented in the event, including members of Latvian Parliament, students, teachers, parents and journalists.
Representative Wu praised Latvian children, who have been very active in the World School Children’s Art Exhibition over the years. With no exception, there are 2 Gold, 3 Silver 1 Bronze awards and 57 selected diplomas attributed to Latvia children this year. He also gave acknowledgement to the Taiwanese Association for Education Through Art for organizing the World School Children’s Art Exhibition throughout the last 48 years.
Hon. Andris Buikis, Member of Group for Interparliamentary Relations with Taiwan of Latvian Parliament also expressed appreciation of Taipei Mission’s continued efforts in promoting cultural cooperation between Taiwan and Latvia. Deputy Director Antons Vaivod of Jurmala Art School also gave his remarks to encourage Latvian school children.
Latvian parliamentarians joined with Representative Wu in presenting the awards to children, and followed by school children’s performances of Latvian folklore dancing, making a truly warm and joyful Friday afternoon for all participants.
