Dear Friends,
On October 15, I arrived in the beautiful capital city Riga to assume my duties as the Representative of the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia, concurrently accredited to Estonia. This marks my second diplomatic posting in Europe, and it is both a profound honor and a great pleasure to engage with you in this capacity. I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the longstanding support and friendship extended by the governments, parliaments, and people of Latvia and Estonia toward Taiwan over the years. Your understanding and continued encouragement remain invaluable to our shared future endeavors.
Taiwan, Latvia, and Estonia have all endured similar historical experiences, which deepen our appreciation for the freedoms and democratic systems we now enjoy. Our countries not only share principles but also face common strategic challenges. This situation demands increased unity among like-minded nations to safeguard our democratic institutions from coercion and aggression in all its forms. We also recognize the critical importance of secure and resilient supply chains to national security and must collaborate to protect them from undue interference. At the same time, we see tremendous opportunities for partnership in the whole of society defense resilience and related industries—including cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence—where our combined expertise can yield mutual benefits.
Over the past three years, relations with Latvia and Estonia have grown significantly through meaningful dialogue and tangible cooperation in areas such as cybersecurity, humanitarian aid, semiconductor and high-tech collaborations, scholarships, educational and cultural exchanges. With this strong foundation and the steadfast support of our friends in Latvia and Estonia, I am confident that we can achieve even greater success together.
I eagerly anticipate working closely with partners across all sectors to deepen the friendship among Taiwan, Latvia, and Estonia, and to jointly contribute to a secure, prosperous, and rules-based international order grounded in freedom and democracy.
