The Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade- Republic of the Marshall Islands cohosted a reception to celebrate the 23rd Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between the ROC(Taiwan) and the Marshall Islands.
The friendship between the two countries has even deepened more even in the COVID-19 pandemic as the reception was unprecedentedly held at the Nitijela Conference Room, and H.E. President David Kabua, Irojilaplap Michael Kabua, most of the ministers and senators attended the party to enjoy the auspicious moment!
In his remarks, Amb. S.C. Jeffery S.C. Hsiao pointed out that cooperations between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands include areas such as agriculture, education, women's economic empowerment, medical and climate change. Amb. Hsiao also expressed his gratitude to the members of Nitijela for passing Resolution 52, supporting Taiwan’s international participation.
Foreign Minister of the Marshall Islands, Hon. Casten Nemra also thanked Taiwan for sharing the “Taiwan Model” during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating medical equipment and helping the Marshall Islands deploy COVID vaccines. Hon. Nemra then quoted H.E. President David Kabua’s speech in this year’s UN General Assembly: “THE SHAMEFUL SILENCE MUST END!”, strongly reiterating the Marshall Islands’ support for Taiwan’s international participation.
20,000 surgical masks were also handed over to the Marshall Islands at the reception. And later on, all the participants celebrated all together with Taiwanese Bubble Tea!
