The 2023 ROC (Taiwan)-RMI Presidents’ Scholarship Awarding Ceremony has been successfully held at Marshall Islands Resort on December 20th, 2023. This year marks the 4th awarding ceremony since the scholarship’s establishment in 2018. ROC (Taiwan) Ambassador to the RMI Steve C. C. Hsia and Mme. Gloria Hsia, along with the President of the RMI, H.E. David Kabua and First Lady Ginger Kabua, and Hon. Acting Education Minister Kessai Note, awarded prizes and certificates to 73 scholarship winners. The RMI Government officials, scholarship recipients, parents and representatives from schools, around 120 people, attended the ceremony.
The RMI Public School System (PSS) Commissioner, Kanchi Hosia, delivered his remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Education. Hosia extended appreciation to President Tsai and the government of the ROC (Taiwan) for establishing the fund, and emphasized the scholarship has made positive impacts on the recipients of outstanding students and in-service teachers.
Amb. Hsia mentioned in his remarks that Taiwan has provided Marshallese students with various scholarships for years, which not only helps the RMI to develop its education system and to cultivate talents, but promotes academic exchange between Taiwan and the RMI as well. Amb. Hsia also encouraged students to continue advancing their studies, which will help build up their capacity and become the cornerstone of life. (E
