Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Myanmar is responsible for the provision of authentication services to ROC citizens and foreign nationals for documents, this office’s document authentication services include authentication of:
◎ Documents issued by ROC entities / individuals for use in Myanmar.
◎ Documents issued by Myanmar governmental / private institutions for use in ROC.
Requirements:
Authentication of ROC domestic documents:
Applicants must present original documents (attached with the translation copy of English) certified by a public notary and the Bureau of Consular Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ROC, and provide a supplementary copy of each document for its records.
Authentication of Myanmar documents:
- Applicants must present original documents (attached with the translation copy of English) certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and provide a supplementary copy of each document for its records. (Myanmar documents need to submit the original documents, which must be verified by a Myanmar notary public for the original copy and the English translation, and then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will verify the signature and seal.)
- If the application of ROC documents is lodged by an agent, a letter of attorney certified by a public notary must be attached.
The application of Myanmar documents: provide a letter of attorney certified by a notary public and notarized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar. - Applicants or their agents are required to present the ID documents (ex: passport, ID card) and provide one photocopy of ID documents. If the applicant is a private company / institution, it must provide one photocopy of the company license and one photocopy of ID document of the company owner.
- Applicants must complete the application form for authentication truthfully and in full.
- It is required to provide the documents of purpose (ex: the application of authentication for the certificate of original must provide a bill of landing).
Applicants and their agents are requested to pay attention to the following:
- This office provides walk-in-service only. Applicants are served on a first-come, first-served basis.
- When applying for document authentication, applicants must prepare enough copies, namely, in addition to the documents to be authenticated, they must provide this office with one supplementary copy of each document for its records.
- Please allow (5) working days to perform the necessary procedure of authentication. The fee for this service is as follows:
- Fee for the authentication of each document: USD $15. However, the time required for birth certificates and death certificates can be short or long, and the date of delivery cannot be determined. Therefore, after the Legalization is passed, the office will call the applicant to inform the applicant of the date of collection.
- This authentication service for signatures and official seals of ROC Bureau of Consular Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs is free of charge.
- Failure to adhere to “the Regulations relating to the execution of authentication by overseas consular official of ROC” (please read the regulations at Bureau of Consular Affairs website) and this office’s guidelines may prolong the authentication process.
- The application of the minor children’s documents must submit the letter of consent signed by their parents.
- The application of “Power of Attorney” must be submitted by the principal in person for signing the name on the form before the consular official. The requests for authentication lodged by an agent will be refused.
