The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Myanmar is pleased to announce that we will be accepting applications for the 2026 Taiwan Scholarship from February 1 through March 31, 2026.
Applicants must complete the scholarship program application online via the official portal: https://Taiwanscholarship.moe.gov.tw/Apply. The system will be open during the application window (February 1 – March 31, 2026).
The Taiwan Scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to encourage international students to undertake degree programs in a wide range of disciplines at universities in Taiwan. Prospective students may apply for undergraduate, master’s or doctoral-level scholarships.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides the following benefits for each recipient:
- Tuition and Miscellaneous Expenses: Up to NT$40,000 each semester. (Note: Miscellaneous expenses do not include administration fees, thesis supervision, insurance, accommodation, or internet access).
- Monthly Stipend
- Undergraduate programs: NT$15,000 per month.
- Master’s or Doctorate programs: NT$20,000 per month.
- Duration and Limits
- Bachelor’s degree: Maximum 4 years.
- Master’s degree: Maximum 2 years.
- Doctoral degree: Maximum 4 years.
- Maximum total duration: The total period of any combination of scholarships held by a single recipient cannot exceed five years.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Myanmar citizens, possess a senior high school diploma with an excellent academic record, and be of good moral character. Scholarship recipients must arrange their own exit procedures. The award recipient is responsible for making their own arrangements for traveling to Taiwan.
Application Documents
After completing the online application, applicants must submit the following documents to our office.
- A Taiwan Scholarship Application Form
- A signed copy of the Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreement
- A photocopy of the applicant’s passport or other documentary evidence of nationality
- A photocopy of their highest academic award and of the associated academic transcripts (authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar)
- Photocopies of documentary evidence that the applicant has already applied to a university/college in Taiwan (for example, photocopies of the application fee remittance, the application form, and a notice or email from the university/college acknowledging receipt of the application.)
Note that candidates selected as scholarship recipients must submit a copy of their official university admission letter to TECO office by June 30, 2026 to finalize and secure their scholarship eligibility. Failure to submit the admission letter by this deadline or failure to gain admission to a university will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s status. - A photocopy of a language proficiency certificate (TOCFL Level 3 (Intermediate) or higher for Chinese-taught programs; TOEFL/IELTS for English-taught programs)
- Two reference letters – from a principal, a college or university president, professors, and/or supervisors – personally signed, and placed in sealed envelopes.
