A total of 95 Malaysians have been awarded the MOE Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) this year to pursue academic degrees or short-term Mandarin courses in Taiwan.
In the “2024 MOE Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Award Ceremony” held by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia at the Grey Box, GMBB on 26 July 2024, more than 2 hundred scholarship recipients and their families attended the event to share the honor and joy together.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Representative Mr. James Buu expressed congratulations to the Scholarships awardees and encouraged the awardees to take this opportunity to expand their knowledge and broaden their horizons during their time studying in Taiwan. The skills and expertise obtained will enable them to excel themselves in various fields and may serve as a bridge for enhancing bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Malaysia as top talent."
Mr. Buu pointed out that Taiwan’s competitiveness has rapidly increased over the years. Taiwan is ranked the 8th, among 67 economies in the 2024 world competitiveness rankings released recently by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
He also added that Taiwan's higher education is world-renowned for its R&D competitiveness, industry–academia collaboration, and pioneering development in semiconductors, information technology as well as cultural and creative design industries. Its focus on scientific research and practical application of knowledge has received high recognition from students worldwide.
