Representative Lien Yu-Ping went to Muar to attend the Lunar New Year banquet hosted by the Melaka Standing Committee of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Malaysia on 7 March. Taiwanese business representatives from Melaka and Muar, together with members of Persatuan Alumni Universiti Taiwan Melaka and Persatuan Alumni Universiti dan Kolej Taiwan Muar, Johor, gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
In her remarks, Dr. Lien noted that Taiwan–Malaysia economic and trade relations continued to grow steadily. Bilateral trade reached a record high of US$57.4 billion in 2025, a 32.3% year-on-year increase. Taiwan is Malaysia’s seventh-largest source of foreign investment and has created more than 400,000 job opportunities locally. She reaffirmed that our office will continue supporting Taiwanese businesses in Malaysia and called for the early updating of the Malaysia–Taiwan Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA) to enhance investment protection and foster a more favorable business environment.
