The next Tea Philo talk slated to take place 11 June 2022 at 8pm (Malaysia Time) features keynote speaker Nobuo Takamori, an independent curator specializing in cross-cultural studies and contemporary art in Asia, and moderator Yap Saubin, a renowned Malaysia artist/scholar.
Takamori will share his curatorial work of 2021 Asian Art Biennial—Phantasmapolis, a coined term comprising “Phantasma” (phantom) and “polis” (a city-state in ancient Greece), that aims to expose the hidden context of futurism in Taiwanese and Asian art histories. He will also throw light on how Southeast Asian artists participating in the show perceived and reflected on “Asian Futurism” and what “future” means to Southeast Asian societies and culture.
The talk will be in English and held virtually on Zoom. Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required. For further information or registration, please visit https://www.facebook.com/teaphilomy. (E)
