Taiwanese high-tech company, Wiwynn Corporation (Wiwynn), officially commenced its phase II development on a server printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) plant, with a groundbreaking ceremony held at Senai airport city, Johor on June 27th.
Ms. Anne Hung, representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, was invited to attend the event. “Malaysia has long been a close partner with Taiwan in terms of trade and investment. Despite the rage of the pandemic in the past two years, bilateral trade between Taiwan and Malaysia registered nearly 28 billion US dollars in 2021, a growth of 26% over 2020. Taiwan was Malaysia’s fifth largest trading partner, and Malaysia was Taiwan’s seventh largest. Taiwan was also Malaysia’s eighth largest FDI, with accumulated investment reaching nearly 14 billion US dollars up to date.” She said. She added, “Wiwynn’s expansion to Malaysia is not only an important strategic move for the company, but also provides opportunities for the development and collaboration in digitalization of the manufacture sector here in Malaysia. I hope Wiwynn's investment in Johor will also encourage more players in this industry to follow suit and help form a new data center server manufacturing cluster in Johor.”
Wiwynn introduced its phase II server PCBA plant followed by the server rack integration plant in Dec 2021. Its Malaysia site will be one of Wiwynn’s hubs that provide complete services from PCBA to rack integration to address the surging demand from hyperscale data centers.
The completion of Wiwynn’s server rack integration plant (phase I) is set in Q1 2023, followed by the PCBA plant (phase II) which is scheduled to be put into operations in 2024. After completion, more than 1,150 job opportunities are expected for the locals.
Wiwynn is an innovative cloud IT infrastructure provider of high-quality computing and storage products, plus rack solutions for leading data centers. The company aggressively invest in next-generation technologies to provide the best TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), workload and energy-optimized IT solutions.
