Representative Hsin Hsin Chen’s Letter to Trouw on China banning Taiwan Pineapples (2021.3.5, The Hague)
分享到
The Taiwanese president calls on compatriots to consume home-grown pineapple, now that China bans its import (Trouw, March 1). The sudden import ban is intended as political leverage and punishment of Taiwan. Countries that criticize China risk sanctions. Norway experienced this with the export of salmon, when the Nobel Prize was awarded to the imprisoned human rights activist Liu Xiaobo in Oslo in 2010. For this reason Taiwan deserves more support from other democratic countries, including The Netherlands.
