Taiwan Scholarship 2018
Registrations for the 2018 Taiwan Scholarships have now officially been opened. We welcome anyone with an interest in Taiwan and specific Taiwanese study programs to apply for the scholarship. We look forward to reviewing and meeting all the successful applicants.
Purpose
The purpose of the Taiwan Scholarship Program, sponsored by the Education Ministry of the Republic of China and implemented by the Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands, is to encourage outstanding Dutch students to pursue degree programs in Taiwan and to enhance educational and academic exchanges between Taiwan and the Netherlands.
Scholarship
- Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fees, up to a maximum amount of NT$40,000 per semester.
- Subsistence allowance: A monthly stipend of NT$15,000 for undergraduate studies, and NT$20,000 for postgraduate studies
Duration of Scholarship
- The maximum period of each scholarship is four years for undergraduate programs, two years for master programs, and four years for doctorate programs.
- Annual award periods are from September 1st through August 31st of the following year.
Eligibility
An applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a high school graduate or above, have Dutch nationality, have an excellent academic performance in his/her most recent formal educational study experience, and have no criminal records.
- Is not a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
- Does not have the status of overseas Chinese student.
- Has not already studied in Taiwan for the same level of degree as the one in which he/she currently intends to enroll.
- Is not an exchange or dual/joint degree student in accordance with an agreement of cooperation between an international university/college and an educational institute in Taiwan, at the time of receiving a Taiwan scholarship.
- Applicant cannot be the recipient of the Taiwan scholarship for more than a total of 5 years including the period of this application.
- Does not have any revocation record regarding the Taiwan Scholarship program or the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship program.
- Is not a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or any other educational institution in Taiwan.
- An information session will be held at the Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands in June 2018 (to be announced) for successful applicants. Attending the information session is mandatory.
Required Application Documents
- One copy of the digitally filled in and printed out application form, which can be downloaded from: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dTxtOlPrOkiY6Gg_MEbnvk46lTzD3f9H/view?usp=sharing Any other version of the form or incomplete forms will not be accepted;
- One photocopy of your passport;
- One photocopy of the highest-level diploma and a complete grade transcript. If you are currently enrolled in a program at an educational institution, please provide us with grade transcripts of your current study as well. Make sure your grade transcripts have official university stamps/signatures and include a GPA;
- Two signed letters of recommendation;
- Supporting admission application materials (e.g. photocopy of application forms for a degree program at universities/colleges in Taiwan);
- A photocopy of a certificate displaying an acceptable level of English or Chinese proficiency. If your preferred major is given in English, prepare an English language level proficiency certificate (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.). If your preferred major is given in Chinese, prepare the Chinese language level proficiency certificate TOCFL (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) at Level 3 or above;
Application Deadline
- Scholarship registrations close on March 31st, 2018. Make sure your application is complete before this date. You will not be allowed to change or add documents after you hand in your application.
