The Taiwanese community in the Netherlands launched a "walk with Taiwan" march in The Hague, calling on the Dutch government and the international community to support Taiwan's participation in World Health Organization (WHO) meetings, mechanisms and activities. About 200 overseas Taiwanese, students and Dutch nationals joined march calling for attention to protect the international public health and epidemic prevention system together.
Today's walking activities were co-hosted by the Taiwan Shian Chin Association and Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands. The participants wore the orange T-Shirts with slogan "Health For All, Taiwan Can Help", the colour of the Dutch royal family, designed specifically for this event by Taiwanese designer Huang Yutzi. The T-Shirt drew large attention of the people along the way. Several Dutch people even took the initiative to join the slogan of the parade. The atmosphere welcomed the peaceful journey to the end of the event.
Raymond de Roon, Chairman of the Foreign Trade Committee in the Lower House, paid tribute to all the participants in Het Plein. He said that the health right is a human right. Taiwan’s participation in WHO meetings, mechanisms and activities should be supported.
Members of the Taiwan Shian Chin Association, Taiwan Business Association, Taipei Chinese School, Taiwan business families association in the South Netherlands, the World Federation of Chinese Business and Trade Associations, Taiwan Community Care Association in the Netherlands, Stampoot, and the Taiwan Student Association are all participating today. About 280 people also signed petition on the internet to support Taiwan's participation in WHA.
