In reciprocity for New Zealand’s opening its e-Gate access to Taiwanese passport carriers, Taiwan announced on 27 November that New Zealand passport holders can start using Taiwan’s e-Gate system from 29 November 2025.
New Zealand travelers who have no criminal records, carry valid e-passport with over six months of expiration date, aged over 12 years and taller than 120 cm, can use automated clearance service at 121 e-Gate units in Taiwan international airports and seaports from 29 November.
Please note that, since 1 October 2025, Taiwan no longer uses paper arrival cards, only accepts Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) registered online. Completion of the TWAC—free of charge and available at https://twac.immigration.gov.tw —is required within three days prior to boarding.
Taiwan and New Zealand are like-minded partners that share the values of democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. With around 60,000 two-way visitors annually, reciprocal e-Gate arrangements not only allow faster and convenient access, but will also strengthen bilateral exchanges, tourism, and investments.
