Palau President Surangel Whipps, Jr. boarded the Sterile Corridor inaugural flight with the tourists and welcomed their visits to Palau.

The Sterile Corridor Inaugural flight landed in Palau at 7:30pm April 1st, 2021 carrying 123 passengers on board from Taiwan, including President Surangel Whipps, Jr., the Presidential Delegation and tourists.
Upon arrival at the airport, President Whipps along with Ambassador Wallace Chow and U.S. Ambassador John Hennessey-Niland signed the Palau Pledge promising to preserve the environment and respect the culture of Palau.
Palau Visitors Authority arranged traditional dance performances and presented leis to welcome the tourists. Taiwan Embassy also gave out Taiwan-Palau flag sports towels to tourists to commemorate this historic moment.
President Whipps made a short statement at the airport to welcome the tourists and wished them an enjoyable time in Palau.
President Whipps along with Ambassador Wallace Chow and U.S. Ambassador John Hennessey-Niland signed the Palau Pledge.
