On November 30, Ambassador Jessica C. Lee delivered a check of $1,000 to the Friends of the Palau National Marine Sanctuary (FRIENDS), in support of its projects to pursue sustainable development and the annual Cigarette Butt Challenge. In attendance were FRIENDS President Adolph Demei and Vice President Elia Yobech.
Ambassador Jessica C. Lee said the Embassy is proud of FRIENDS’ long term partner to keep Palau pristine and healthy. FRIENDS vision is to support the Palau National Marine Sanctuary (PNMS), and such support resulted in the creation of the Palau Pledge, which Palau passed into law to change the immigration visa to be the Palau Pledge. FRIENDS is also working with schools to promote ecology conservation.
